What Is Fascia?
Fascia is a tough dense connective tissue surrounding muscle, tendon and bones. It’s continuous throughout the body with no beginning or end. When the body endures trauma or injury it may result in loss of pliability and movement. This will include chronic poor posture. Symptoms that my result are: headaches, muscle spasm chronic back and neck pain, sciatic pain, numbness and poor flexibility.
Causes of trauma include: motor vehicle accidents, poor postures, prolonged sitting or standing, emotional stresses ad repetitive activities.
What Does It Do For Me?
Direct pressure on squeezes water out of the tissue and then is sucked back in when pressure is removed-much like a sponge. New circulation of water and blood will bring fresh nutrients and will speed healing.
Hands-on therapy without lotions will engage the connective tissue or fascia and work to break down scar tissue, improve range of motion and decrease pain and muscle spasm.
